The KALÓS Philosophy

KALÓS believe that It has never been more urgent or important to use business’s significant influence to start solving the problems we face as a planet. As much as it is a differentiator today, we want to help normalise positive impact so that it becomes part of business as usual. Not something that is seen as either discretionary or something to be feared or politicised, but something to be embraced as the new norm.

The ‘B’ in B Lab stands for ‘Benefit for all’. The current economic system prioritises short-term gains over long-term value; me over we; now over the future; inequity over justice; profits over people and the planet. But it doesn't have to be this way. We need to change our economic system to positively impact all stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, and our planet.

'B Corps are in an ideal position to meet the emerging needs of consumers, employees, and communities with their more holistic, stakeholder-conscious paradigm; more collaborative, purposeful, and healthy work environments; sustainable options for consumers; and practices and mindsets that favour sustainability and social responsibility. Research has shown that younger generations particularly value companies that actively promote these values and practices. Furthermore, the B certification has great potential as a tool to combat the mistrust generated by greenwashing and instrumental CSR, reestablishing trust between for-profit companies and the communities in which they are embedded.'

Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, protect and regenerate the environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.

While not with its imperfections & challenges, KALÓS believes that the B Corp certification is the most robust and most widely recognised methodology available right now, providing a framework to help align environmental & social practices to global sustainability reporting initiatives.
